Manna Meal ProgramSubmitted by: Sweet Home United Methodist Church Purpose: To purchase chairs that will be utilized during "Manna". Scope: Manna currently serves 60-80 meals in the church dining room each Friday. Amount Granted: $2500 STEWARDS ProgramSubmitted by: South Santiam Watershed Council Purpose: Monies will provide a new opportunity for positive and life enriching experiences for families and youth in Sweet Home. Scope: Multiple guided expeditions into the forest covering more than 25 educational topics will be covered during the course of the program and will provide approximately 190 people with 2,620 hours of service. Amount Granted: $2480 Shop with a Cop ProgramSubmitted by: Sweet Home Police Department Purpose: A program involving Linn County's Foster Children and local law enforcement agencies. Scope: Funds will be used to allow Sweet Home area children to Shop with a Cop. Amount Granted: $2000 Surveillance System (Last Phase)Submitted by: Little Promises Children's Program Purpose: Grant money will be used to complete the final phase of surveillance system. Scope: Quality surveillance outside and inside the classrooms helps with the safety and communication needs of staff and children in the facility. Amount Granted: $550 13th and Kalmia Street Bus Shelter ImprovementsSubmitted by: Sweet Home Senior Center/Linn Shuttle Purpose: Funds will be used to install glass in the bus shelter. Scope: Provides shelter from adverse weather while passengers wit for the bus. Additionally this complements efforts to improve the community. Amount Granted: $836 Baby Safety ProjectSubmitted by: Sweet Home Pregnancy Center Purpose: Grant monies will be used to purchase infant/child seats, cribs and mattresses and other safety items for clients in a Parentluing Program. Scope In 2008 there were a total of 345 client visits at the Sweet Home Pregnancy Center. Amount Granted: $970 Meals on Wheels/Senior Meals ProgramSubmitted by: Oregon Cascade West Senior Services Purpose: Grant monies are used to purchase meals for Sweet Home participants. Scope; Grant funds from SHCF double the impact of Medicade dollars. Meals on Wheels served 21,877 meals throughout the year. Amount Granted: $2500 Jim Riggs Community Center Video Presentation AidsSubmitted by: Kiwanis Purpose: Grant monies will be used to purchase portable video presentation equipment. Scope: The equipment will be able to be used anywhere in the Community Center. Amount Granted: $400 Image Makers ProgramSubmitted by: Sweet Home Boys and Girls Club Purpose: Image Makers is a National program that allows youth to express their creativity by taking and developing their own photos. Scope: With this program, Club Staff can help members uncover their artistic talents, develop their creative skills and even explore related career opportunities. Amount Granted: $1870 Playground ProjectSubmitted by: Foster Elementary Purpose: Purchase playground equipment. Scope: Used by children in kindergarten through 6th grade as well as community members. Amount Granted: $2500 |
